PROFESSIONAL

CERTIFIED ENTERPRISE ARCHITECT

Lamar has over twenty years of progressively increasing skills and responsibilities in computer networking, engineering, and architecture. He is an enterprise architect who has worked with medium-sized organizations, large enterprises, commercial organizations, and government agencies in planning, strategy, and design. Lamar has years of experience providing senior management and stakeholders with informed views and guidance by mapping the organization’s business, applications, data, and technology to expose gaps and deficiencies. Lamar has also developed roadmaps to transition from current state to future state and set architectures that reveal alignments and misalignments between goals and initiatives and business processes, capabilities, and services with IT assets.

As an enterprise architect, he provided stakeholders with models and artifacts of the organization’s processes, services, and capabilities utilizing TOGAF, DoDAF, FEAF, and EA3 cube frameworks and methodologies to assist in analysis decision making. Lamar has also worked in COOP, Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity Planning, and SAN and Storage engineering.

Strategic Approach to Enterprise Architecture

Reduce complexity by providing artifacts that inform stakeholders, aid in the decision-making process, and ensure that high-quality work can be performed within the required timeline. Also, analyze and mature the agency or organization’s enterprise architecture program, mission, and strategy by articulating and modeling the business vision and strategy in terms of services, capabilities, functions, and processes.

The key goals of enterprise architecture are to:

  • Manage complexity – particularly for large complex organizations

  • Reduce ambiguity by mapping the structure and relationships of the organization’s parts

  • Provide a blueprint for frameworks and methodology, and participate in the governance of all architectural activities

  • Enable traceability across the organization’s business, applications, data, and technology layers to expose dependencies, relationships, and gaps

  • Uncover the needs, gaps, and functional requirements identified through mapping the current architectural state

  • And develop target architectures and planning roadmaps to achieve the target architectural states

Supplying frameworks and methodology for the strategic alignment of technology with processes and services with a primary focus on Federal Enterprise Architecture Framework; modeling and documenting the current state of the organization enabling stakeholders to make better decisions. Also, utilizing TBM to improve visibility of IT assets from the perspective of cost and performance.

JUNE 2015 - OCTOBER 2017

GENERAL DYNAMICS INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY

Operations Manager/ Resiliency Officer

Worked collaboratively across applications and systems units to define, re-architect and design recovery and continuity strategies, and assess their impact on operations. Also documented business practices, conducted risk assessments, and ensured contingency plans address all essential recovery requirements according to regulatory and professional practices. Produced multiple architecture artifacts including concept of operations diagrams, business process models, swim lane diagrams, MoSCow requirements spreadsheets, traceability matrices, connectivity diagrams, network inventory, and rack elevation diagrams.

NOV 2017 - APRIL 2019

Booz Allen Hamilton

Enterprise Architect

Applied architectural methodology and frameworks, including The Open Group Architecture Framework (TOGAF), Zachman Framework and Dept. of Defense Architectural Framework (DoDAF) as well as ITIL practices, to align services, process, and technology with business needs. Lead in developing current state architecture artifacts that help to identify gaps in operational capabilities that hinder strategic goals. Lead the team effort in documenting the requirements process by creating flowcharts, swim lane diagrams, requirements review exercises for stakeholders.

SEPTEMBER 2010 - MAY 2015

IBM GLOBAL BUSINESS SERVICES

Senior IT Architect

Architect supporting federal proposal efforts with tasks to design solutions covering a range of requirements for data centers, servers, and storage including utilizing virtualization and cloud computing. Took business and mission requirements and assembled reference architectures with capabilities and repeatable design strategies for adaptability, scalability, availability, and reuse. Used IBM’s modified version of TOGAF’s Architectural Development Method (ADM) to apply the methodology in phases.
